Cambodia's Prime Minister Champions Women's Empowerment

Phnom Penh, August 1, 2024 — Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has reiterated the Royal Government's commitment to advancing women's empowerment by focusing on education and financial accessibility.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Pinnacle Entrepreneur Forum and the 2024 ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs’ Network (AWEN) Award today at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the nation's dedication to gender equality. He described Cambodia as a model of gender parity within ASEAN, demonstrating a profound respect and commitment to enabling women to realize their fullest potential.

"To truly transform our vision into reality, we will persistently fund women’s educational initiatives, ease access to financial resources, and remove obstacles that impede their progress," stated the Prime Minister.

He emphasized the need for a societal shift that not only celebrates women's achievements but also encourages their involvement in every facet of societal and economic life, ensuring their voices are heard and valued. "I am dedicated to advocating for your cause, to being your ally and steadfast supporter. Together, both men and women, we will script a historic chapter of shared empowerment, economic growth, and enduring societal unity in Cambodia and across ASEAN," he affirmed.

The Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs’ Network (CambWEN) notes that the Pinnacle Entrepreneur Forum will spotlight the dynamic entrepreneurial spirit in Cambodia, focusing particularly on businesses led by women. The event aims to display Cambodia's investment opportunities on an international scale.

In support of women entrepreneurs and to foster strategic collaborations, the forum will honor 22 exceptional business leaders this year, aligning with the government’s goals for sustainable development and economic progress.
